  1. The Idea is Born

    Market research revealed a gap in how insurance agents access and manage products. We began developing an early agency platform to empower agents with digital tools for quoting and policy management — planting the seed for what would later evolve into Skelta.

  2. First Prototype

    We developed our first product — a Motor and Health comparison portal. This MVP helped us understand user expectations and the challenges of digitising insurance distribution in Kenya.

  3. 2021 Rethinking and Redefining

    After testing, we realised the market needed more than comparison. Several similar solutions existed, but most were agent-led. We decided to differentiate — shifting focus from being an agency platform to becoming a neutral, technology-driven aggregator that supports all intermediaries.

  4. 2022–2024 Strategic Development

    We rebuilt the platform from the ground up. Our focus turned to system integration, insurer onboarding, and compliance — ensuring our technology could connect insurers, brokers, agents, and institutions seamlessly. This period laid the foundation for a scalable digital ecosystem.

  5. 2025 Skelta Officially Launches

    Skelta launched as a B2B digital insurance aggregator, empowering intermediaries — brokers, agents, SACCOs, MFIs, and bancassurance partners — to access multiple insurers and products from one platform.

    Our MVP featured Motor, Health, and Funeral (Last Expense) insurance, with the first partners onboarded and active pilot distribution beginning.

  6. 2026 — Expanding Product Lines & Partnerships

    We’re adding new product lines, including Home, Personal Accident, and Professional Indemnity, while growing our network to over 100 active distribution partners across Kenya. Skelta continues to innovate, making insurance distribution faster, smarter, and more transparent.

  7. 2027 — Scaling Across Africa

    Skelta begins expansion into East Africa and parts of South-Central Africa, introducing cross-border insurer integrations and regional partnerships. Our vision remains clear — to become Africa’s most trusted insurance distribution platform, empowering intermediaries continent-wide.

How are payments and commissions handled?
All premium payments are routed securely to the respective insurer’s account. Skelta then provides detailed commission tracking through your dashboard for easy reconciliation.
How secure is Skelta’s platform?
We use encrypted APIs, two-factor authentication, and data protection standards that comply with the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019). Our systems are hosted on trusted, compliant cloud infrastructure.
Do I need to install any software?
No installation required. Skelta is entirely web-based and can be accessed securely from any device with internet connectivity.

Where is Skelta currently available?
Skelta is currently operational in Kenya, with expansion plans into Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia and Rwanda from 2027 onward.
